How Do I Apply?
The VIF Program’s application period for the 2009-10 school year has ended. Register online to be notified of the next open application period and to receive monthly updates on the VIF Program.
Please note that teaching opportunities in the U.S. for international teachers are limited for the 2009-10 school year. Due to a recent downturn in the U.S. economy, school districts have been forced to reduce their budgets, limiting the numbers of teachers they may hire.
Though we expect to place teachers during the upcoming school year, the selection process is likely to be even more competitive than in the past.

When Could I Start Teaching?
Most U.S. schools begin the academic year in August. Therefore, VIF considers most applications between August and November of the previous year to allow time for teachers to complete all stages of the application process and prepare for arrival and orientation.

Are There Openings in My Teaching Field?
Historically, the majority of our requests from U.S. partner schools have been in the following subjects: elementary education, bilingual elementary education, Spanish language immersion, Spanish as a world language, English as a Second/Foreign Language (ESL/EFL), math, science and Special Education. While we offer positions to other subjects such as English or history, these subjects constitute less than 10% of the positions VIF teachers fill.
